Daniel Whitehead is a London born artist where he still resides.  He received his BA in Photography and Video at DeMontfort University in Leicester, 2020. Whitehead then went on to study a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art in 2022. Finishing his studies in 2024 with his MA in fine art at Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London.

The work focuses mostly on, but is not restricted to, sculpture and installation. Occasionally Whitehead will work in different mediums. The artwork itself revolves around his own experiences growing up and living in the western world and the influences this has had on him.  Two sad lovers hiding their identity with brown sacks for heads, legs sprouting from a suitcase, or a nose breaking through a wall are to name a few. Pop culture creating a slapstick feel is a theme that is present throughout the work, shown through his use of assisted readymades.

Often working figuratively, Whitehead's more recent works have involved casting his own legs and body parts and combining them with other objects in awkward and unusual ways; be it their pairs of legs growing from a box (Fools On Parade, 2023) or a figure hanging out of a second floor window after a seemingly close escape (But Daddy I love Him, 2024).  Whitehead seeks to disrupt and critique our assumptions of familiar objects and images whilst maintaining a sense of humour in the audience.

Since his BA Whitehead has been prolific when it comes to exhibitions and shows, ranging from graduate shows to group exhibitions. He was awarded the Chelsea Arts Club Trust Materials and Research award in 2023 for his work he completed on his Graduate Diploma course. Most recently he spent some time in Venice as part of a residency as part of his studies.
