Daniel Whitehead is a London born artist where he still resides.  He received his BA in Photography and Video at DeMontfort University in Leicester, 2020. Whitehead then went on to study a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art in 2022. Finishing his studies in 2024 with his MA in fine art at Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London.

The work focuses mostly on, yet not restricted to, sculpture and installation. Occasionally Whitehead will work in different mediums. The artwork itself revolves around his own experiences growing up and living in the western world and the influences that has had on him.  From two sad lovers hiding their identity with brown sacks to legs sprouting from a suitcase or an Ikea instruction manual depicting the crucifixion of Christ, are to name a few. A theme that is present throughout the work is the use of pop culture creating a slapstick feel shown through his use of assisted readymades.

Often working figuratively, Whitehead's more recent works have involved casting his own legs and body parts and combining them with other objects in awkward and unusual ways; be it their pairs of legs growing from a box (Fools On Parade, 2023) or a figure hanging out of a second floor window after a seemingly close escape (But Daddy I love Him, 2024).  Whitehead has an inner desire, seeking to disrupt and critique our assumptions of these familiar objects and images but also to create a sense of humour within the audience.

Since his BA Whitehead has been prolific when it comes to exhibitions and shows, ranging from graduate shows to group exhibitions. He was awarded the Chelsea Arts Club Trust Materials and Research award in 2023 for his work he completed on his Graduate Diploma course. Most recently he spent some time in Venice as part of a residency as part of his studies.
